About the event

Dear friends and members of the community,

You are warmly invited to 80 Years: Remembering Hiroshima & Nagasaki, a commemorative event on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal (JCCCM).

This event marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is a moment to honour the memories of victims, amplify messages of peace from the Hibakusha, and reflect on our shared commitment to nuclear disarmament. We also celebrate the sister‑city bond between Montreal and Hiroshima, established in 1998.

Program Highlights:

🥁 Taiko Performance – “Sanya” by Shima no Taiko MTL (15 minutes)

🎙️ Mariko Komatsu Speech – Advocate for Hiroshima peace education (5 minutes video message)
