About the event
Shima no Taiko at Otakuthon? YES! Come celebrate with us on Sunday, August 9, with a thunderous drumbeat as we mark the 21st anniversary of this yearly event, which has become — no less — Canada’s second-largest anime festival!
To mark the occasion in our own special way, we’ve invited Yurika, the festival’s mascot, to join us for a solo performance. The happi coat looks great on her!
Join us to discover (or rediscover!) our repertoire of resounding taiko pieces (with a new addition, too!). But that’s not all: you’ll be able to dance to the sound of Japanese drums during a workshop!

Shima no Taiko will perform on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Dance Hall 517 B on the 5th floor.
Otakuthon takes place at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.
